Storm into the bedroom

Storm into the bedroom

archatlas: Mexican Water Cabins DesignBuildBLUFF The Mexican Water Chapter of the Navajo Nation partnered with Design Build BLUFF (and University of Colorado Students)  to construct two rentable cabins; with the idea that tourism dollars otherwise lost outside the boundaries of the reservation could rather stay and help encourage the local economy. Influenced by the landscape and distant views of the Blue Mountains and Monument Valley, the design led to the development of two “sibling” cubes. One rests on the landscape while the other emerges from it. Images and text via DesignBuildBLUFF

Two bridges of a trilogy of infrastructure projects (the third yet to be built) by the firm that enhance a small mountain road that winds through the hamlet of Ebnit. Each bridge is designed with extreme clarity; a pure physical expression of the structural forces needed to traverse the spans over the gorges along the route, articulated with a monolithic concrete. paperbagsdocs: Work from Mir, an architecture visualization studio “Natural visualisation is our way of honouring each architect and each piece of architecture. Our design process is based on four guiding principles. 1.Natural lightA sensible relationship between light and shadow is the foundation of every Mir image. Architecture “becomes itself” when lit naturally. 2.Unforced processAll our best work has started with the freedom to explore and invent. The industry standard of ordering specific viewpoints with mood references does not take into account the interdependence of lighting, composition and colour. 3.Unstaged entourageStaged and unnatural-looking people can reduce art to kitsch in an instant. We believe that entourage should be an integral and unimposing part of the story in the image. 4. Natural settingNature provides a sense of time and place. Natural elements from the specific location sets the scene for the architecture. -A rugged urban street in soft morning fog. -Heatwaves from a scorching sun in the desert.”
